As I'm standing here
thinking 'bout the morning,
I wonder what the Moon is doing.
I wonder what the Moon is doing.
I've heard that the Moon used to be the Earth,
back when the Earth was molten and young.
I've heard that on a bad day they smashed
in to a comet and out it was flung.
So the moon is a piece of a
really bad day we once had
and then on that day, yes, way back then,
there was still life in the sea!
So what's the moon thinking,
as the gases percolate through those rocks?
So, what is the moon thinking,
as microbes reproduce now and then?
If only it could think something grand
I fear instead they're frozen up there.
But, perhaps the Moon, it thinks thoughts anyway,
and it does not need life to be there.
So, what is the moon, it thinking?
Is it wondering why I'm awake?
I really like the moon, you know,
but sometimes I like to have a break. Sometimes, I have a break.
But that good moon does not have breaks,
for that good moon just works all day.
And that good moon it works all night,
just working while it stays in sight,
just working while it brings us light
for that is how the moon, it works.
So, what is that moon it thinking?
Does it think of going to sleep
and seeing the stars while it sleeps
And what is the moon, it thinking?
Is it thinking of me?
A tiny microbe lost in a sea
on a planet it left far long ago,
on a planet it left long ago.
